Quick Humana Medicare Supplement plans review: Humana is a leading health insurance provider with numerous Medicare Supplement plans to choose from, some of which include benefits, such as discounts on vision and dental services.

Humana is an award-winning health insurance company that offers a wide range of policies, including over a dozen Medicare Supplement plans. The company was founded in 1961 as a nursing home provider, and in 1984, it began selling health insurance policies. Today, it sells and manages health plans in every state.

Humana’s Medicare Supplement plans are generally affordable with low deductibles. It offers every type of Medigap plan, but the plans available to you depend on where you live. Reviewing the options available to you, including out-of-pocket expenses and additional benefits, can help you decide which plan is right for you.

Pros and Cons of Humana Medicare Supplement Plans

What we like about Humana Medigap plans: The drawbacks of Humana Medigap plans:
  • Coverage available in 50 states
  • Many plans feature additional benefits, such as discounts for vision and dental care
  • Affordable deductibles
  • Not all plans are available nationwide
  • Most plans don’t have annual out-of-pocket maximums

What Do Humana Medicare Supplement Plans Cover?

Unlike Medicare Advantage Plans that are an alternative way to get your Original Medicare benefits, Medicare Supplement plans are purchased alongside your Original Medicare policy. Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) pays for some of the expenses not covered by your Original Medicare, such as copays and deductibles. All plans have coverage for the Part A deductible, and if you became eligible for Medicare before January 1, 2020, you may be able to buy a Medigap plan that covers the Part B deductible as well. Medigap plans may cover emergency care when traveling abroad and provide discounts for fitness clubs and vision and dental care.

Humana Medicare Supplement Plan Options

Humana administers 13 Medicare Supplement plans, including two high deductible plans, to help you control medical costs. Availability may vary depending on your location. Along with the standardized benefits that all Medigap plans offer, several of Humana’s plans include discounts for fitness clubs, vision and dental care, and emergency overseas coverage. Your monthly premium depends on where you live, your age, and your gender. Some plans have maximum out-of-pocket limits.
