What Do Humana Medicare Supplement Plans Cover?

Unlike Medicare Advantage Plans that are an alternative way to get your Original Medicare benefits, Medigap plans are purchased alongside your Medicare insurance policy. Medigap Insurance pays for some of the expenses not covered by Original Medicare, such as copays and deductibles. All plans have coverage for your Medicare Part A deductible, and if you became eligible for Medicare before January 1, 2020, you may be able to buy a Medigap plan that covers the Medicare Part B deductible as well.

Medigap plans may also cover emergency care when traveling abroad and provide discounts for fitness clubs and vision and dental care.

Humana Medicare Supplement Plan Options

Humana offers 13 Medigap plans, including two high deductible plans, to help you control medical costs. Availability may vary and is determined by your ZIP code. Along with the standardized benefits that all Medigap plans offer, several of Humana’s plans include discounts for fitness clubs, vision and dental care, and foreign travel emergencies. Your monthly premium depends on your ZIP code, your age, and your gender. Some plans have maximum limits on out-of-pocket costs.

Keep in mind that in order to sign-up or make changes to your current Medicare, Medicare Advantage, or Medicare supplement coverage, you have to wait until the open enrollment period (from October 15 to December 7 each year).  There are exceptions to this rule.  For example, you can qualify for a special enrollment period if you experience one of several qualifying life events.  Another exception is your initial enrollment period – the three months prior to and three months after which you reach age 65.
